Pastors & Staff

Jeff Marcoe

Lead Pastor

Pastor Jeff accepted the call to become the Lead Pastor of First Nazarene Church in October of 2015. Prior to that, he served at the Church of the Nazarene in New Braunfels, Texas as Youth Pastor from 2000-2012 and Senior Pastor from 2007-2015.

Jeff received his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Asbury Seminary in 1999 and his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from the University of Southern Colorado in 1995. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and had a small private practice while in New Braunfels. Pastor Jeff still has a passion for faith based counseling and counsels regularly.

He and his wife Amy were married in 1992 and have two children; their daughter Ashley and their son Alex. Ashley, a proud Texas A&M grad, is a Social Worker and is married to Aaron (who also serves on staff at First Nazarene Church). Alex attended Texas State University and majored in computer science.  Jeff enjoys playing games with his family, playing golf, and watching sports - especially Kentucky basketball - and firmly believes The Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie ever made.

Aaron Heatherly

Executive/Worship Pastor

Aaron initially joined our team in 2020 as our part time Worship Leader. In February of 2023 he came on staff as our Executive/Worship Pastor. He is married to Ashley, and they have a beautiful daughter named Genevieve, a baby boy on the way, and a German Shepherd/Lab mix named Albus. Aaron has served as a worship leader and production director for several churches and helped plant a church in the San Antonio area before moving to Amarillo with Ashley. He has an unrivaled passion for coffee and a love for music and production, especially in the church. Aaron is a big San Antonio Spurs fan and has been since moving to San Antonio in 2007 (coincidentally a championship year). In his free time, he’s likely drinking coffee, working in his yard, listening to the most recent worship record, or playing board games with his family.

Johnnel "Scotty" Scotland

Student Pastor

Johnnel, better known as Scotty, accepted the call to ministry at the age of 19 where he became a licensed local minister at the Fredriksted Church of the Nazarene in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands  in 2014. Scotty and his wife, Sherika, moved to Amarillo and began attending Amarillo First Church of the Nazarene in the summer of 2019, where he now serves part time as the Student Pastor. He is employed full time as a Juvenile Supervision Officer with the Randall County Juvenile Detention Center, where he is able to continue working with young people and sharing God’s word with them.

When Scotty is not working, he and Sherika are probably out serving the homeless community or likely chasing their toddler, Nathaniel, around a park or their neighborhood. Scotty enjoys spending time with his family, watching (and occasionally playing) basketball, going to the beach (only in the Caribbean), and playing card games he thinks he can win.

Jaycee Porter

Children's Pastor

Jaycee has served as our Children's Pastor since April of 2022 when she accepted her call into ministry. She and her husband Brandan have three kids: Addison, Beckett, and Cambrie. In her free time, which is very rare due to her kiddos, Jaycee loves to shop at local boutiques.

Ron Sullivan

Senior Adult Pastor

Ron has served as our Senior Adult pastor since 2006. Prior to coming to First Nazarene Church, he served 27 years in full-time ministry at 5 churches in Nebraska, Arizona, and West Texas. He received an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from Nazarene Bible College (1978) and a Bachelors Degree in Religion at Mid America Nazarene College (1979). Pastor Ron was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 1982 by the Nebraska District Assembly.

He and his wife Deanna have been married for over 40 years, and they have 3 children along with 8 grandchildren. Ron enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and camping.

Judy Kayser

Church Administrator

Judy has been a member at First Nazarene Church for more than 25 years. The last 18 of those years, she has served alongside our pastors as the office administrator.  Judy is married to Bert, her husband of 30 years.  They have 3 daughters, 2 sons, and 9 grandchildren.  She loves spending time with her family, loves the Texas Rangers (MLB Champions!) and enjoys traveling.
