Listen to Understand

Too often we listen to respond rather than listen to understand. I am to be slow to speak, slow to become angry, and quick to listen. Understanding builds the trust and intimacy necessary for relationships to heal when wounded so that they thrive. What if I listened to the issue rather than prepare my defense?
